Confirming what “Al-Rai” reported in its Sunday edition, the Kuwait Municipality has officially notified the owners of 263 properties in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area of the necessity to remove and demolish them, after technical inspections confirmed that the buildings are structurally unsound and at risk of collapse.
The decision, published in the official gazette “Kuwait Al-Yawm,” stipulates that property owners must vacate and demolish the buildings within two weeks (between October 4 and October 18), following reports from the Government Center for Inspections, Quality Control, and Research under the Ministry of Public Works, which confirmed that the buildings in these properties are unsafe, at risk of collapse, and pose a constant threat to lives, property, and public safety.
Article Two of the decision mandates that the relevant municipal authority monitor the owners’ compliance with demolishing the buildings within the specified timeframe. If the buildings are not demolished by their owners after the allotted period expires, the relevant municipal authority will proceed with their demolition at the owners’ expense, after ensuring that the buildings are completely vacant.
