Air ambulance carrying 6 people disappears off the US East Coast

The U.S. Coast Guard launched a search operation on Saturday for a medical evacuation aircraft that went missing while en route from Bermuda to Boston, with six people on board, officials said.

The Coast Guard stated on the X platform that ships and aircraft were participating in the search for the Gulfstream G100 plane off the coast of Nantucket, Massachusetts.

Contact with the aircraft, operated by the Canadian-based company Latitude Air Ambulance, was lost at around 1:30 a.m. (15:30 GMT), according to company spokesperson Clarence Tougritz, who told Agence France-Presse.

Tougritz said, “The plane was carrying two pilots, two medical crew members, a patient, and one family member,” adding that he had no further information regarding the rescue efforts.
