The Kuwait Municipality is moving to complete procedures regarding dilapidated and structurally unsound properties identified in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area, by publishing their details in the Official Gazette and granting their owners a two-week deadline to begin demolition. The municipality will carry out the demolition itself if no action is taken within the specified period, given the danger these properties pose to residents, passersby, and neighbors.

A well-informed source within the municipality told Al-Rai that the two-week deadline begins from the date of publication in the Official Gazette, clarifying that if property owners fail to respond and commence demolition within the stipulated timeframe, the municipality will assume responsibility for the demolition process.

The source explained that these steps are part of completing procedures related to non-compliant housing identified during the comprehensive security campaign in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area. The Public Works Ministry’s inspection report covered 286 properties, including 263 deemed structurally unsound, four newly constructed, one undergoing renovation, 16 vacant plots, and two properties under construction.

Relevant departments at the municipality faced difficulties in locating the details of some property owners to notify them of the inspection results for their dilapidated and unsafe properties, which pose a risk to residents, passersby, and neighbors, according to the technical assessment conducted by the Public Works Ministry.
