Kuwait and Italy Strengthen Security Coordination... Drugs and Cybercrime in the Spotlight

Deputy Minister of Interior Major General Abdulwahab Al-Wahib held talks with Italian Director General of Public Security Governor Pietro Bisagni on ways to enhance security cooperation and exchange expertise between the two sides, in Rome as part of his official visit to the friendly Italian Republic, with Kuwait’s Ambassador to Italy Nasser Al-Qahtani in attendance.
During the meeting, Al-Wahib conveyed greetings and appreciation from First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousif, reaffirming his commitment to continuing the development of security cooperation ties between the State of Kuwait and the Italian Republic, and expanding areas of coordination, expertise, and information exchange to serve the mutual interests of both countries.
The meeting addressed ways to strengthen cooperation in several security fields of mutual interest, foremost among them combating organized crime and illicit drug trafficking, confronting cybercrime and financial and economic crimes, enhancing border security, and exchanging expertise in training and capacity-building, as well as leveraging modern technologies and solutions to support security operations.
The parties also discussed developing mechanisms for information exchange between the competent authorities in both countries, strengthening preventive and proactive capabilities to address emerging criminal patterns, and utilizing modern technologies in monitoring, analysis, and detection operations, thereby contributing to enhancing the efficiency of security work and addressing security challenges.
Major General Al-Wahib also met with several senior officials at the Italian Ministry of the Interior, discussing various topics of mutual interest and ways to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise between the two sides.
The Deputy Minister of Interior and his accompanying delegation toured several departments under the Italian Ministry of the Interior, where they reviewed their operational nature, coordination mechanisms among competent authorities, and the key systems and technologies used to support security missions and improve performance efficiency.
