Ayub Yunusov, Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the State of Kuwait, underscored the deep historical ties between Kuwait and Uzbekistan, praising Kuwait’s sustained support for his country, particularly through the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development. He emphasized that the coming years hold greater opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation across various fields.

His remarks came during a speech delivered at a ceremony marking the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence, held at the Regency Hotel. The event was attended by Abdulaziz Al-Marzouq, Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Chairman of the Public Authority for Investment, and Prince Sultan bin Saad bin Khalid Al Saud, Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Kuwait, along with several other ambassadors, diplomatic corps members, officials, and prominent figures.

Yunusov stressed that Kuwait holds a special place in Uzbekistan’s heart, as it was among the first nations to recognize Uzbekistan’s independence in December 1991. Since then, bilateral relations have experienced continuous growth based on mutual trust, respect, and shared interests.

He commended the role played by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development over the years in supporting development projects in Uzbekistan, particularly in the water, infrastructure, and health sectors, noting that these contributions are highly valued by his country.

He pointed out that the visa-free entry regime for Kuwaiti citizens for a period of 30 days has helped open broader horizons for tourism and people-to-people exchanges between the two nations. He welcomed Kuwaiti visitors to various Uzbek cities, including Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva, emphasizing the importance of public engagement in strengthening ties between the two countries.

The ambassador also touched upon the Uzbek Products Festival, which opened at City Hypermarket in Salmiya. He explained that the festival showcases a diverse range of Uzbek products that reflect their quality and authenticity, inviting attendees and the public to visit the event and learn about these products.

He reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s pride in its relations with Kuwait, expressing his country’s appreciation for the approach pursued by the Kuwaiti leadership, which is based on peace, stability, and dialogue.

He also extended his gratitude to the Kuwaiti government for the care and attention it affords to the Uzbek community residing and working in Kuwait.

Ambassador Yunusov stated that August 31, 1991, marked a historic milestone for the Uzbek people, who realized their dream of reclaiming their right to build their independent state and shape their future through their own will. He noted that independence laid the foundation for Uzbekistan’s modern renaissance, consolidating its national identity and strengthening state institutions.
