Security and Defense... Core of Bin Farhan's Talks in Washington

In the context of intensive efforts led by Saudi Arabia to de-escalate tensions and reduce hostilities, Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan held discussions on Wednesday with U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Senator Jim Risch and Vice Chair Senator Jeanne Shaheen on “recent developments in the regional situation and efforts to preserve the security and stability of the region.”
The Saudi Foreign Ministry stated in a press release that the meeting took place in Washington, D.C., during the Saudi Foreign Minister’s official visit to the United States.
According to the release, the two sides reviewed “bilateral relations between the two countries and areas of joint cooperation, alongside discussions on recent developments in the regional situation and efforts to preserve the security and stability of the region.”
Attending the meeting were Saudi Ambassador to the United States Princess Reema bint Bandar Al Saud, Political Advisor to the Foreign Minister Prince Misbah bin Mohammed Al Farhan, and several other officials.
In a separate meeting on Tuesday evening, Prince Faisal bin Farhan discussed with Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Senator Roger Wicker and Vice Chair Senator Jack Reed “coordination and defense and security cooperation between the two friendly countries, as well as recent developments in the regional situation and efforts aimed at supporting its security and stability.”
Additionally, during a meeting with Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Senator Tom Cotton, Prince Faisal bin Farhan discussed “the latest political and security developments, and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in relevant fields, contributing to the realization of the common interests of the two friendly countries and strengthening security and stability at both the regional and international levels.”
