Ramzy Akar, the Acting United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process and UN Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, warned of continued suffering among displaced persons in Gaza living in tents as winter approaches, amid a worsening shelter crisis and deteriorating water and sanitation services.
The Gaza Strip faces increasing risks as winter nears, with approximately 270,000 tents housing displaced people, of which 162,000 are dilapidated and unfit for use, representing more than 60 percent of the total number of tents.
Ismail al-Thawabta, Director General of the Government Media Office, warned that these conditions signal a deepening humanitarian crisis and threaten the lives of hundreds of thousands of displaced persons.
Meanwhile, the Gaza Ministry of Health announced that seven Palestinians were killed and 14 others injured in an Israeli airstrike targeting a civilian vehicle in the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood in southwestern Gaza City.
Palestinian security sources stated that a drone fired at least one missile at a civilian vehicle in the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood, resulting in casualties among the dead and wounded.
Local witnesses said the airstrike occurred during peak traffic hours, as school students returned and large numbers of Palestinians moved through the streets.
