Customs Authority Inspects Italian Experience in Facilitating Goods Movement and Strengthening Port Security

A delegation from the General Directorate of Customs in the State of Kuwait visited the Italian Republic to observe the customs experience and the latest systems and practices implemented at border crossings and ports there.

In a press statement on Wednesday, Customs announced that the visit aims to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise, in line with directives from Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to develop customs operations and leverage international experiences to improve performance efficiency, strengthen border security, and facilitate trade flows.

The statement clarified that the delegation, which included Saleh Al-Omar, Vice President for Border Affairs and Customs Research and Investigation, and Muhsin Al-Othman, Director of the Southern Ports Customs Administration, observed inspection and screening procedures, risk management and analysis systems, technologies used for surveillance and targeting, customs clearance procedures, and mechanisms to facilitate cargo movement during their visit to the Civitavecchia port.

According to the statement, the delegation reaffirmed the General Directorate of Customs’ commitment to adopting best international practices and implementing those suited to Kuwait’s operational requirements, thereby balancing stringent oversight with the facilitation of legitimate trade.
