The visit of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Major General Abdulwahab Al-Wahib, and his accompanying delegation, to the friendly Republic of Turkey, included multiple events aimed at enhancing security cooperation and coordination. On Tuesday, he met with Turkish Deputy Minister of Interior Büyük Guran Yigitbasi, and with Turkish Deputy Minister of Justice Sadat Ay Yildiz, and visited the General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Centers under the Turkish Ministry of Justice.
During the meeting with the Turkish Deputy Minister of Interior, attended by Kuwait’s Ambassador to Turkey, Marzouq Al-Shaboub, ways to enhance joint security cooperation and coordination between the two friendly countries were discussed. At the outset of the meeting, Al-Wahib conveyed greetings and appreciation from the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Yousif Al-Sabah, to the Turkish Deputy Minister of Interior, emphasizing his commitment to developing areas of joint work and exchanging expertise between the security agencies of the two countries.
The meeting addressed several security issues of mutual interest, foremost among them combating organized crime, drug trafficking, and smuggling, as well as strengthening information exchange mechanisms and coordination among competent authorities, particularly in confronting cross-border crimes. The discussion also highlighted leveraging modern technologies and best security practices to enhance performance efficiency and security readiness.
For her part, Turkish Deputy Minister of Interior Büyük Guran Yigitbasi emphasized the importance of continuing joint work and exchanging expertise between the two sides, in service of mutual interests and to enhance the security and stability of the two friendly countries.
At the beginning of the meeting with the Turkish Deputy Minister of Justice, Major General Al-Wahib conveyed greetings and appreciation from the First Deputy, emphasizing his commitment to strengthening cooperation frameworks and developing areas of joint work between the two sides, reflecting the deep distinguished relations between the State of Kuwait and the friendly Republic of Turkey.
The meeting discussed several topics of mutual interest and ways to develop cooperation and coordination in security and criminal fields, alongside exchanging experiences and best practices to improve operational mechanisms and elevate institutional performance standards.
For his part, Yildiz welcomed Al-Wahib and his delegation, emphasizing the importance of continuing to enhance cooperation and coordination between the two sides to serve mutual interests and strengthen the distinguished relations between the two friendly countries.
As part of the visit’s events, Major General Al-Wahib and his delegation visited the General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Centers under the Turkish Ministry of Justice, where they reviewed the latest systems and modern technologies used to develop the operational system and enhance operational and security efficiency.
Al-Wahib and his delegation were received by Director General Celbi Yilmaz and several officials. The visit included the Electronic Monitoring Center, training centers, and the Sincan Complex, as well as an inspection of the health system and medical services, the trial mechanism and courtrooms, and vocational and professional workshops.
The Undersecretary also reviewed the rehabilitation and training programs designated for inmates, which include professional and behavioral aspects aimed at developing their skills and enhancing their capabilities, thereby contributing to their positive reintegration into society after serving their sentences.
