State Security Criminal Court Issues Verdicts in 5 Cases Linked to Social Media

The State Security and Terrorism Crimes Court, presided over by Advisor Nasser Al-Badr and with the participation of Advisors Omar Al-Mulifi, Abdullah Al-Falih, and Salem Al-Zaid, sentenced Talal Al-Dibous to five years’ imprisonment with hard labor for insulting the Amir on social media platforms.

In the second case, the court sentenced Lulwa Al-Husseini and Mansour Al-Muharraq to five years’ imprisonment with hard labor for spreading false news via social media, and ordered the deletion of the referenced video from social media platforms.

In the third case, the court acquitted a lawyer and refrained from imposing a penalty, subject to his providing a guarantee of 5,000 Kuwaiti dinars and committing to good conduct and behavior for two years, following his participation and statements on a television program.

In the fourth case, the court sentenced a Twitter user to three years’ imprisonment with hard labor for inciting sectarian strife on social media.

In the fifth case, the court sentenced two Twitter users for insulting the Amir: the first received two years’ imprisonment with hard labor for posting a tweet on X, while the second was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment with hard labor for replying to the first defendant’s tweet.
