The President of the Supreme Council of the Judiciary and President of the Court of Cassation, Counselor Dr. Adel Bursali, praised the historic precedent set by the Court of Cassation, which achieved the resolution of approximately 20,000 appeals during the judicial year nearing its end. He emphasized that the swift resolution of appeals and clearing the backlog represent the most significant challenges of the new judicial year.

In a speech delivered at the General Assembly of the Court’s Counselors, Counselor Bursali stated, “The Kuwaiti judiciary has proven, throughout the ages, its ability to safeguard the trust placed in it, thereby securing its position among the leading judicial systems in Arab countries. This achievement is due to your efforts and those of your predecessors, which have had a positive impact on the country’s security, stability, and the absolute confidence citizens have in obtaining their rights and protecting their freedoms. Let us always preserve our distinguished judicial heritage to ensure our judiciary remains in its esteemed and high-standing position.”

He added, “The most prominent challenge of the new judicial year is the swift resolution of appeals and the efficient clearance of the accumulated backlog, utilizing your known competence, determination, and resolve. We rely on your efforts and expertise, as well as digital justice solutions to the greatest extent possible, as we are in an era of litigation automation. I would like to highlight that, thanks to your commendable efforts, the Court has resolved approximately 20,000 appeals during the judicial year nearing its end. These rulings and decisions embody legal and judicial principles, rules, and values that have illuminated the path of justice in our beloved country, in addition to thousands of preliminary rulings and decisions on suspension or rejection of enforcement. This is a historic precedent occurring for the first time since the establishment of the Court, and we hope to replicate it. We extend our deepest appreciation for your excellent efforts.”

Counselor Bursali concluded by saying, “It is always a pleasure for me to express, on behalf of all, our gratitude and appreciation for the material and moral support provided by the State to the judiciary and its members, under the gracious patronage of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. I also extend my thanks to His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister, for his valued support of the judiciary.”
