Gulf Cup Executive Committee approves Iraq hosting 'Gulf 28'

The official account of the Gulf Cup of Nations Federation posted a photo on the X platform announcing the host country for the next edition, writing: “Iraq is preparing to host Gulf Cup 28.” The current edition, Gulf Cup 27, is being held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with the next tournament set to take place in Iraq.

Iraq has previously won the Gulf Cup title four times, most recently at Gulf Cup 25, which was held on home soil in 2023, after defeating Oman 3-2 in the final.

This will be the third time Iraq hosts the Gulf Cup, following the editions in 1979 and 2023.
