Atlanta – Xinhua – A chartered FedEx cargo plane carrying a pair of giant pandas from China, Ping Ping and Fu Shuang, landed in Atlanta, in the southeastern United States, today.
The panda pair is expected to reside at the Atlanta Zoo for 10 years, according to an agreement between the Atlanta Zoo and the Chinese Wildlife Conservation Association.
Gina Ferri, deputy director of Collections and Conservation at the Atlanta Zoo, said they are “very excited” to welcome the giant pandas back to the zoo “after two long years.”
Ferri told Xinhua News Agency: “We have been preparing for the arrival of Ping Ping and Fu Shuang. We have made numerous improvements to their environment, including new daytime enclosures with much more space, highly advanced zoo-specific lighting and flooring, and other conditions designed to provide them with the best possible care.”
