Jeddah (AFP) – Saudi Arabia lost the services of defender Hassan Kadish in the 27th Gulf Cup of Nations (“Khaleeji Al-Arabiya 27”) due to a thigh injury, according to the Saudi Football Federation.
The federation said in a statement that national team coach Yorgos Donis ruled out Hassan Kadish from the “Al-Akhdar” (The Green) camp in Jeddah, which is hosting the 27th Gulf Cup.
It added that this decision was based on the medical report from tests conducted on Kadish’s thigh injury, which showed he was not fit and required a treatment and rehabilitation program.
Kadish was substituted in the 63rd minute during the second group stage match against Oman, which Saudi Arabia won 3-0.
Saudi Arabia had already secured one of the spots in the semi-finals of the Gulf tournament after victories over Kuwait and Oman, ahead of their third group stage match against Iraq on Tuesday.
Kadish also started the first match, although he did not play a single minute in Saudi Arabia’s three matches at the North American World Cup despite being called up.
