The Competitions Committee of the Gulf Football Federation held its fourth meeting in Jeddah, chaired by Dr. Khaled bin Muqrin, to discuss several matters related to the second round of the “Gulf Arab Homelands 27” championship, which will be hosted by Saudi Arabia from September 23 to October 6, 2026.
The committee reviewed the mechanism for determining the teams qualifying for the semi-finals, emphasizing that the ranking of teams in each group is determined in accordance with Article 7 of the regulations governing the rules and conditions of matches, based on the total points accumulated by each team.
In the event of a tie between two or more teams in points, the ranking is determined according to the following criteria:
• The number of goals scored in all tournament matches.
• If the tied teams played their final match against each other and were both on the pitch at the end of that match, the tie is resolved directly by a penalty shootout.
Disciplinary card points are calculated as follows: one point for a yellow card, three points for a player receiving two yellow cards in the same match, three points for a direct red card, and four points for a player receiving a yellow card and a direct red card in the same match.
