Head of Iraq's Security Media Cell: Our country will not be a threat to neighboring states

Saad Maan, head of Iraq’s Security Media Cell, affirmed that the official Iraqi position is clear, stating that the Iraqi leadership “will not allow Iraq to be a source of threat to any neighboring country, nor will it accept that Iraq itself be threatened or attacked by any neighboring state.”
This statement was made during a meeting with journalists on the sidelines of General Maan’s visit to Kuwait, accompanied by Subuh Al-Nuaiman, spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces and the official spokesperson for the Iraqi military and security establishment on security and military matters.
Maan said that “the Iraqi delegation’s visit to Kuwait aims to strengthen fraternal relations and continuous coordination between the two countries, particularly in the security and media fields.”
He clarified that “the visit seeks to organize and develop the existing relationship between the two countries and to reach common security messages,” noting that “one of the priorities is combating rumors that occasionally surface, by establishing direct communication channels between the Iraqi security media and their counterparts in Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Defense.”
He pointed out that “both sides agreed on several matters, including exchanging visits, coordinating in the field of security academia, enhancing media capacity and efficiency, and sharing expertise.”
He explained that “Iraq is going through troubling regional circumstances, but it is keen to avoid entering any war and to preserve its gains,” emphasizing the importance of good relations with all neighboring countries, foremost among them Kuwait.
When asked whether Iraqi territory had been used to target neighboring countries, he said that some strikes attributed to Iraq did not originate from it, noting that the country’s vast area and the presence of more than one million non-Iraqis make handling information require careful scrutiny.
He stressed that border issues are handled “through understanding and the law,” and that Iraq proceeds only with what is agreed upon within legal and procedural frameworks. He called for responsible and calm media discourse on this file, urging that issues which can be addressed through dialogue and official channels not become sources of tension between the two countries.
For his part, Subuh Al-Nuaiman, spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces and official spokesperson for the military and security establishment, affirmed that Iraqi security forces have now taken control of the country’s security file, and that Iraq will not allow its territory to be used as a source of threat to any neighboring country.
Regarding regional tensions, Al-Nuaiman confirmed that Iraq has not been and will not be a party to any regional war, noting that the repercussions of the US-Iran conflict have affected Iraq, Kuwait, and the region as a whole, both security-wise and economically.
