Egypt establishes 8 international logistics corridors for cargo transport

The Egyptian Ministry of Transport announced the implementation of eight integrated developmental international logistics corridors connecting the Red Sea and Mediterranean ports and the Suez Canal axis with dry ports, industrial, agricultural, and mining zones, via a modern and integrated network of railway lines, high-speed electric train networks, and highways, providing efficient cargo transport routes.

In a statement, the ministry added that the new corridors contribute to reducing transit times and costs, enhancing the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy, and embodying Egypt’s vision of integrated regional and international connectivity. They also facilitate the flow of global trade and consolidate Egypt’s position as a regional hub for transport, logistics, and transit trade.

Commenting on fluctuations in sugar prices in the Egyptian market following recent approvals for sugar exports, the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade stated that the strategic sugar reserve is secure and sufficient for 11 months. Subsidized ration sugar continues to be available at the supported price of 12.5 Egyptian pounds per kilogram. He noted that only limited quantities have been permitted for export, which will not impact domestic markets.
