KNA: 197,000 female students trained in breast cancer screening and detection

Dr. Khalid Al-Saleh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of KAN and Head of the Executive Committee, stated that awareness and knowledge form a fundamental pillar for prevention, early detection, and enhancing the chances of recovery. He noted that breast cancer ranks first among the most prevalent types of cancer among women in the country.

He added that this year’s initiative is launched based on a cumulative track record, during which KAN successfully trained 197,000 high school students in self-examination and early detection. He also highlighted the development of a strategy to expand the target audience, reaching hundreds of thousands of students, university students, employees, volunteers, individuals with disabilities, and cancer survivors.

Dr. Hessa Al-Shahin, Board Member and Head of the Breast Cancer Initiative, emphasized that the success of awareness efforts relies on community partnership and the integration of roles among various entities. She pointed to the involvement of a large team of specialists and volunteers in ensuring the initiative’s success and in advancing the goal of transitioning from theoretical knowledge and correct understanding to practical behavior and a healthy lifestyle.

She explained that the initiative underscores the importance of the private sector’s role and its social responsibility in supporting health awareness. She confirmed that the campaign is built on cooperation with the Ministry of Health, official bodies, public benefit associations, and cancer centers, through screenings, seminars, and awareness activities in educational institutions, commercial complexes, and other community venues.
