Cultural and entertainment carnival opens the third phase of the Martyr's Park
Anwar Al-Yatami, Chair of the Supervisory Committee for the Management of the Martyrs’ Park (Phase III), announced details of the opening ceremony for the park’s third phase and the accompanying carnival, scheduled to take place over two days on October 1 and 2. She revealed a packed program of artistic, cultural, and heritage events, alongside sports activities featuring several Kuwaiti athletes.
These remarks were made during a press conference organized by the Supervisory Committee for the Management of the Martyrs’ Park (Phase III) to announce details of the opening and the accompanying carnival. The event was attended by Vice-Chair Khalid Al-Faylaka, as well as representatives from sponsoring organizations and partners: Yousef Al-Ruwai, Head of Group Public Relations and Media at Kuwait Finance House; Hamoud Al-Shaikh, representing Al-Shaikh Group; and Nasser Al-Arfaj, Director of Strategic Relations and Public Relations at Ooredoo Kuwait. The conference was held in the Round Hall at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center.
At the outset of her address, Al-Yatami expressed her joy and pride in the imminent opening of the Martyrs’ Park (Phase III). She affirmed that this national project represents a qualitative addition to Kuwait’s cultural and recreational landscape, reflecting the state’s commitment to providing integrated destinations that serve society and meet its aspirations.
She stated that “Phase III completes what was achieved in Phases I and II, offering a renewed vision and high-quality components that blend culture, art, entertainment, and sports within a modern, sustainable environment. This reinforces the Martyrs’ Park’s position as one of Kuwait’s premier destinations and provides a comprehensive experience for all family members.”
She explained that coinciding with the opening, a celebratory carnival will be held on October 1 and 2, featuring a diverse range of events and activities designed to offer the public a distinctive occasion to celebrate this national achievement and to explore the new facilities and experiences included in Phase III.
Al-Yatami extended her gratitude and appreciation to Sheikh Abdullah Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah, Governor of the Capital Governorate, for his support of this occasion. She also expressed her sincere thanks to Kuwait Finance House, Al-Shaikh Group, Ooredoo Communications, and Best Al-Yousefi for their sponsorship and support of the opening ceremony, emphasizing that such sponsorship embodies the importance of effective partnerships between state institutions and the private sector in supporting national projects and initiatives.
She expressed her hope that Phase III of the Martyrs’ Park will mark a new beginning toward further events and activities that meet societal aspirations and enhance Kuwait’s presence as an attractive destination for culture and entertainment.
For his part, Khalid Al-Faylaka, Vice-Chair of the Supervisory Committee, thanked the sponsors of the opening, noting that these sponsorships reflect a distinguished model of partnership and cooperation, and underscore the private sector’s commitment to fulfilling its social role by supporting national, cultural, and recreational projects and events in Kuwait.
Yousef Al-Ruwai, representing Kuwait Finance House, praised this type of partnership between state institutions and the private sector, expressing the bank’s pride in supporting this distinguished project as an extension of its efforts to support purposeful national and community initiatives, in line with its social responsibility.
He highlighted the importance of such projects in creating tourism opportunities and strengthening strategic partnerships that contribute to achieving sustainable development goals, in alignment with Kuwait Vision 2035.
In the same context, Hamoud Al-Shaie affirmed that Al-Shaie Group has believed from the outset that its role extends beyond commercial interests to include making a positive and sustainable contribution to the communities in which it lives and operates. He noted that Al-Shahid Park embodies this approach, serving as a distinctive destination in the heart of Kuwait City that combines green spaces, culture, and entertainment. The park provides individuals and families with a space to gather and spend their time, becoming an integral part of their daily lives.
He emphasized that Al-Shaie Group’s support for the third phase of Al-Shahid Park stems from its steadfast commitment to the nation and its belief in the importance of concerted efforts among various entities to achieve positive synergy that serves society and enhances the quality of life.
For his part, Nasser Al-Arfaj, representative of Ooredoo Kuwait, stated: “Ooredoo has been keen to support this distinguished national project, given its significant contribution to the cultural, recreational, and environmental facilities in Kuwait. We take pride in this partnership, which will not be limited to this project alone. We look forward to extending it in the coming years through unconventional events that will be implemented on the ground, having a positive impact on society as well as the park’s visitors and patrons.”
He pointed out that the geographical proximity between Ooredoo’s headquarters and Al-Shahid Park will have a significant impact on strengthening the partnership through the organization of a variety of events and activities.
From her side, Nadira Al-Ahmad, a member of the supervisory committee for the third phase of Al-Shahid Park, outlined the key features of the opening ceremony and the accompanying carnival. She highlighted the organization of light shows to decorate and enliven the “Al-Sour Theater,” alongside entertainment shows for children and families on the outdoor stages.
She explained that the program also includes traditional performances reflecting Kuwait’s heritage and cultural identity, as well as celebratory parades that will traverse various parts of the park on October 1 and 2. Additionally, there will be dynamic and sports-related activities featuring local athletes in the parkour and skateboarding areas, among other lively and interactive performances under the umbrella of the sponsoring entities, with the aim of delighting the public and delivering a comprehensive celebratory experience.
