Al-Bunai: We are committed to enhancing international cooperation to combat cybercrime

Kuwait’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Tariq Al-Bunai, affirmed on Friday evening Kuwait’s commitment to strengthening international cooperation in combating cybercrime and addressing the growing challenges arising from the misuse of information and communication technologies for criminal purposes.

He made these remarks in a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the occasion of signing the United Nations Convention on Cybercrime at the UN headquarters, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

Al-Bunai stated that the convention provides an international framework to enhance cooperation among states in preventing cybercrime, investigating it, and prosecuting its perpetrators, while also facilitating cooperation in criminal matters and the exchange of electronic evidence related to serious crimes.

He emphasized that Kuwait’s signing of the convention reflects its dedication to supporting international efforts to combat cybercrime, thereby contributing to enhancing security and stability and upholding the rule of law.

The convention was signed within the framework of the 2026 Treaties Event organized by the United Nations at its headquarters in New York City, coinciding with the current session of the UN General Assembly.
