Paramita Tripathi, the Indian Ambassador to Kuwait, affirmed that “Ayurveda” represents an integral part of India’s traditional knowledge and health heritage. She highlighted the growing global recognition of this ancient system and the comprehensive insights it offers regarding health, wellness, and prevention.
This statement was made during the Indian Embassy’s celebration of the 11th Ayurveda Day, held last Wednesday at the embassy premises. The event was attended by approximately 200 Ayurveda practitioners, wellness experts, and representatives from relevant organizations and institutions in the field, along with members of the Indian community in Kuwait.
Tripathi explained that Ayurveda, as one of the oldest healthcare systems in the world, forms a fundamental part of India’s traditional knowledge, health, and wellness heritage. She noted that its holistic approach focuses on achieving balance between body and mind through appropriate diet, lifestyle, daily routines, and various wellness practices.
She added that Ayurveda’s emphasis on preventive care and healthy living has contributed to increased interest in it and other traditional wellness systems worldwide.
The celebration program began with a video message from Shri Baidya Kotesha, Secretary of the Ministry of AYUSH in the Government of India, which addressed the importance of Ayurveda and its place within the Indian traditional medicine system.
The program featured a series of specialized lectures and presentations discussing the relationship between Ayurveda and contemporary health challenges and lifestyles, as well as ways to leverage its practices to enhance public health and prevention.
Dr. Amrish Prakash Deedje delivered a specialized lecture as part of the program. Meanwhile, the embassy disseminated the celebration’s materials and awareness content through its social media platforms, aiming to broaden the reach of information about Ayurveda and engage a wider audience.
Rupesh Ravi presented a talk on the benefits of Ayurveda and its role in promoting comprehensive health and wellness. Dr. Gauri Baghat delivered a specialized lecture titled “Ayurveda for the Prevention and Management of Lifestyle Diseases and Preventive Health.”
The lecture focused on the role of Ayurveda in preventive healthcare, supporting the prevention of health issues related to lifestyle, and assisting in managing them.
The celebration included a “Kalaripayattu Yoga” demonstration presented by the KMS Kalari and Ayur Yoga foundations, showcasing elements of traditional Indian practices, foremost among them Kalaripayattu and yoga, with an emphasis on physical discipline, balance, and enhancing overall wellness.
A specialized exhibition on Ayurveda and healthy living was also held, with participation from several organizations in Kuwait involved in Ayurveda. The exhibition displayed Ayurvedic products, wellness-related practices, and health preparations, offering visitors the opportunity to learn about various aspects of this system and how to apply them in daily life.
In a statement, the Indian Embassy affirmed that the celebration of the 11th Ayurveda Day reflected the growing awareness in Kuwait of the concepts of Ayurveda and holistic wellness. It also provided an opportunity to enhance the promotion of India’s traditional knowledge systems to broader segments of society.
The embassy added that the event is part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen communication between the Indian and Kuwaiti peoples by introducing India’s rich heritage in the fields of health, wellness, and preventive care, thereby contributing to expanding the scope of interaction and cultural exchange between the two countries.
