Jeddah-based Scottish woman enters Guinness Book of World Records in the world of Fortnite

Boi discovered the game in 2017 through her grandson, who was 17 at the time. Nine years later, she has become a “streamer” (a live content creator who broadcasts their activities and videos directly to an audience in real time via dedicated online platforms). She now has nearly 24,000 followers, surpassing all the doubts her grandson initially expressed.

Boi, known by the username “Grammy Gran 1948,” says: “I finally found a game that suits me. Although I have tried several other games, I haven’t found the excitement I get from Fortnite. I call myself a Fortnite player more than a gamer.”

Commenting on her new title, which came after her story was featured in the “Players’ Edition 2027” of Guinness, she said: “Being a Guinness World Record holder means a lot to me personally. At 78, I grew up receiving the book as a birthday gift, and it never crossed my mind that one day I would open one of its pages and see myself. Being recognized as the oldest streamer always seemed like a distant goal, so achieving this honor means a great deal. I am grateful to my family, who have encouraged me over the past nine years, and to the many friends I have played with.”

Although society may expect most players to come from younger generations, Boi, who turned 78 on September 1, asserts the opposite: “Don’t let anyone tell you that you are too old. You are never too old to start playing.”
