"Blue" players promise to make up for their loss

The Kuwait national team players expressed their desire to make up for their loss to Saudi Arabia in the opening match of their campaign at the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup, starting with Saturday’s match against Iraq, while reaffirming their commitment to securing a place in the semifinals.

Regarding the match against Saudi Arabia, Al-Haqan said: “This was a Gulf derby. We missed chances, as did the Saudi team, and they scored from a mistake, but this is not the end of the road.”

Daham highlighted the difficult atmosphere surrounding the match against Saudi Arabia, emphasizing that the coach has the final say in selecting players, whether they are experienced veterans or young talents, and that there is no difference between them in their desire to give their best and represent the national team.

For his part, defender Abdulaziz Naji said: “We played a great match, and we are grateful to God regardless of the outcome. We hope to make up for it in the upcoming matches, God willing.” He added: “In the next match against Iraq, you will see a different team, one that will perform better.”

Fullback Muath Al-Zafiri said: “Our ambition was to win all three points, and we did everything in our power to achieve that, but unfortunately, small details played a role in the match. God willing, we will make up for it in the next two matches.”

Fullback Abdulwahab Al-Owaidi, meanwhile, affirmed that “The Blues” will work to ensure they do not miss any opportunities against Iraq and Oman, and will not squander points in their bid to qualify.
