Foreign Minister Discusses Humanitarian and Development Cooperation with the United Nations

Foreign Minister Sheikh Jaraah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah received Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher at the Permanent Mission of the State of Kuwait to the United Nations in New York on Tuesday evening, on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, the meeting reviewed the close relations between Kuwait and the United Nations, its agencies, and specialized bodies, as well as joint efforts in the humanitarian field and ways to enhance cooperation and coordination to support effective responses to regional and international crises and humanitarian challenges.

The Foreign Minister also received Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, at the Kuwaiti Permanent Mission in New York.

The meeting reviewed bilateral relations between Kuwait and ESCWA, and ways to enhance cooperation in economic, social, and developmental areas of mutual interest.

In a third meeting, the Foreign Minister met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Muhammad Ishaq Dar. The two sides reviewed bilateral relations between the friendly countries and ways to strengthen and develop them across various fields, in addition to discussing recent developments on the regional and international fronts.

The Foreign Minister also met on Wednesday with the President of the Republic of Nauru, David Adeang, and the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita. The meetings reviewed bilateral relations and discussed recent developments on the regional and international fronts.
