Prince Sultan bin Saad bin Khalid Al Saud, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Envoy of His Majesty the King to the State of Kuwait, affirmed that Saudi National Day is a cherished occasion for the hearts of the Kingdom’s citizens, as it serves to commemorate the journey of national unification under King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, may God have mercy on him, and the efforts he exerted in building a state that has today become a pivotal player on both the regional and international stages.
In a telephone interview with the News Channel, Prince Sultan bin Saad stated that celebrating National Day is a celebration of the Kingdom’s history and achievements, a remembrance of the renaissance and development achieved, and the realization of the dreams and aspirations carried by the Founder into tangible reality that the Kingdom enjoys today.
He added that celebrating this occasion in Kuwait carries exceptional distinctiveness, saying, “It was from here, from Kuwait, that the journey of unifying the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia began. Therefore, celebrating it in Kuwait has a different flavor.”
He expressed his hope that the joy between the Kingdom and Kuwait, and among the member states of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), would endure, emphasizing that the bonds and ties uniting the peoples of the region make their national occasions a source of shared happiness, and wished for the continuation of days of goodness and celebrations among the brothers.
Prince Sultan bin Saad recalled King Abdulaziz’s, may God have mercy on him, vision in unifying the Kingdom, affirming that it was a far-sighted vision through which he realized that unifying the country was the foundation for building a stable state capable of achieving development.
He clarified that the development and renaissance witnessed by the Kingdom today represent a continuation of that journey, which began with unification, followed by successive phases of construction and development under the hands of the Founder’s sons, the Kings, culminating in the era of His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz.
He stated that the experience of nation-building confirms that achieving success requires “a clear vision, will, investment in human capital, and continuity of effort,” the principles upon which the Kingdom’s journey has been built since its founding.
He pointed out that the Saudi citizen represents today one of the most important fruits of this journey, given the presence and excellence achieved in various fields, affirming the Kingdom’s continued commitment to building upon the foundations laid by King Abdulaziz and the path followed by his sons after him, with the aim of elevating the Saudi citizen and enhancing the Kingdom’s standing among advanced nations.
He added that the Kingdom is moving forward on its path toward further progress and prosperity, relying on the Founder’s legacy and the accumulated experiences, expertise, and achievements across the different stages of the state.
More than 150 Years of Exceptional Ties
Regarding Kuwaiti-Saudi relations, Prince Sultan bin Saad affirmed that they are “exceptional relations” that are difficult to summarize in volumes or books, noting that books of geography and history, and the boundaries of nature alone, cannot explain the depth and distinctiveness of this relationship.
He said that the relations between the two countries are not diplomatic relations that began at a specific point in time, but rather exceptional, historical relations rooted for more than 150 years, which distinguishes them from traditional inter-state relations.
He emphasized that these relations have remained steadfast, as solid as the foundation upon which they were built, and have transcended various circumstances and changes, because what unites Kuwait and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is greater than any single political, economic, or social framework.
Regarding the most prominent commonalities between the Kuwaiti and Saudi peoples, Prince Sultan bin Saad stated that there is much that unites the two countries, with the most notable shared elements being religion, customs and traditions, and social values.
He added that generosity, chivalry, and honor are also part of the shared value system linking the two peoples, noting that these commonalities are merely a fraction of the many bonds connecting Kuwait and the Kingdom, as well as their respective populations.
On the development the Kingdom is witnessing across various sectors, Prince Sultan bin Saad clarified that the significant progress Saudi Arabia is experiencing today is not the product of a single phase, but rather the result of a cumulative journey that began at the time of the Kingdom’s founding and has passed through successive stages of construction, planning, and development.
He said this journey has been built on work, planning, and investment in human capital, the economy, and infrastructure, pointing out that these pillars have formed a crucial foundation for the Kingdom’s current advancements in multiple fields.
He affirmed that the Saudi leadership is committed to continuing the legacy built by their fathers and ancestors, and to elevating the Saudi citizen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the ranks of major global powers. He noted that the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 is an extension of this approach, focusing on continuing the building process and enhancing the capabilities of the Saudi people and the national economy, thereby supporting the Kingdom’s future and strengthening its standing.
