Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia intends to launch another major offensive against his country, in remarks published yesterday, Tuesday.
Zelenskyy wrote on the Telegram app, referring to his meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings, that Ukraine is in constant contact with its allies to obtain new air defense systems.
He clarified that there can be no talk whatsoever of easing sanctions imposed on Russia “at a time when Ukrainians live daily under the threat of missile and drone attacks.”
Russian forces have long conducted large-scale nighttime attacks using drones and missiles, but they have changed their tactics in recent weeks by launching a continuous barrage of attacks throughout the day.
Moscow has also deployed jet-powered drones over the past months, which can fly at higher altitudes and evade air defenses, causing significantly wider disruptions to businesses, government services, and daily life than before, amid the ongoing war that has lasted four and a half years.
While in New York, Zelenskyy discussed with U.S. President Donald Trump efforts to end the war, including the possibility of reaching a bilateral ceasefire agreement that includes energy-related objectives.
