In the Danish style... "International Woman" opens its new season
The International Women’s Group in Kuwait launched its 2026–2027 season with a Danish-themed introductory gathering that brought members together in a friendly and cultural atmosphere at the Crowne Plaza hotel. The event served as an opportunity for members to get acquainted, renew friendships, and explore aspects of Danish culture, in line with the group’s program aimed at enhancing communication and cultural exchange among its members.
The meeting was opened by Rima Al-Khalidi, wife of the Palestinian Ambassador and Vice President of the group, who delivered a welcoming address. This was followed by the introduction of the new Board of Directors members by Marika Kochlamazashvili, wife of the Georgian Ambassador and the group’s President’s Advisor.
Mona Haddad Al-Khoury, wife of the Lebanese Ambassador and the newly elected President, expressed her gratitude for assuming the presidency of the group. She affirmed the Board of Directors’ commitment to continuing support for the group’s activities and strengthening its role in building bridges of friendship and communication among members. She also extended her thanks to Honorary President Sheikha Henouf Bader Al-Sabah for her continuous support.
Al-Khoury announced the new season’s slogan: “Discover, Connect, Empower.” She explained that the message is based on discovering more facets of Kuwait, enhancing communication among members, and empowering one another, thereby paving the way for a season rich in meetings, activities, and new friendships.
The presentation covered the Danish concept of “hygge,” highlighting its connotations of warmth, comfort, simplicity, and intimacy. It also addressed topics such as family life, work-life balance, cycling culture, and equality and trust in Danish society.
In a gesture linking Danish culture to the host country, the group highlighted two of Kuwait’s most prominent national landmarks: the Kuwait Towers and the National Assembly building. This showcase reflected the importance of getting to know the host country’s culture while remaining open to cultures around the world.
Patricia Al-Anzi, a group member, spoke about her passion for cycling in Kuwait, outlining the status of this culture in Denmark and comparing cycling to the journey of life.
Al-Anzi expressed her hope that more people will discover the joy of cycling in Kuwait, adding that when she thinks of Denmark, she thinks of the bicycle—“that simple thing that connects people, places, and cultures.” She summarized her message with the phrase: “Two countries, two wheels, one feeling.”
