Al-Jouhane: Promoting a culture of peace and raising awareness of its importance

Kawther Al-Jouan, Director of the Women’s Institute for Development and Peace, emphasized the importance of embedding a culture of peace and dialogue as two fundamental pillars for achieving security and stability and supporting development pathways, particularly amid the escalating conflicts and tensions witnessed globally.

In a press statement marking International Day of Peace, Al-Jouan stated, “This occasion serves as a renewed call to promote the values of dialogue, understanding, and tolerance, reject violence, and work toward building safer and more stable societies.” She noted that “the world today faces growing challenges amid ongoing conflicts and geopolitical tensions, necessitating intensified international efforts, elevating the voice of diplomacy and dialogue, and strengthening a culture of peaceful coexistence to achieve sustainable solutions that help de-escalate conflicts.”

She explained that “peace is a key factor in achieving stability and attracting investment, enabling resources to be directed toward education, health, and development sectors, rather than being drained by conflicts and arms races.”
