Ooredoo Kuwait Enhances Advanced 5G Efficiency and Speed
Ooredoo Kuwait has achieved a new technical milestone, reinforcing its leadership in the field of Advanced 5G networks, following its successful testing of both “1024QAM” and “8×8 MIMO” technologies together on its live network in a first-of-its-kind regional trial.
The test was conducted directly on Ooredoo Kuwait’s Advanced 5G network, using commercially available devices and existing network resources, demonstrating the feasibility of deploying these advanced technologies in a real-world operational environment, rather than being limited to laboratory tests. The results showed that these technologies can enhance network performance and data transfer speeds, thereby contributing to a better customer experience.
Live tests further revealed that combining “1024QAM” and “8×8 MIMO” more than doubled the peak data transfer speed, achieving an improvement of approximately 108% compared to using “256QAM” and “4×4 MIMO” under suitable connection conditions. Further performance enhancements are expected as Ooredoo continues to develop its “8×8 MIMO” technical capabilities.
These results were achieved using the commercially available “CPE Ultra 6” device, reflecting the advanced capabilities of Ooredoo Kuwait’s network and its ability to support the latest communication technologies.
The “1024QAM” technology enables the transmission of larger amounts of data using the same frequency band, while “8×8 MIMO” allows compatible devices to send and receive multiple data streams simultaneously. By combining these two technologies, Ooredoo Kuwait can provide its customers with higher speeds and greater capacity, while utilizing existing network frequencies and infrastructure more efficiently.
This development also supports Ooredoo Kuwait’s efforts in sustainability and network efficiency. By transmitting larger volumes of data using existing resources and infrastructure, the company can more efficiently keep pace with the continuous growth in data usage, reducing the need to add more network resources. This contributes to improved utilization of frequencies, infrastructure, and energy.
