Interior Ministry: Smuggling of 4 kg of heroin into the country thwarted in a shipment of auto parts

The General Directorate for the Suppression of Narcotics, in coordination and cooperation with the General Directorate of Customs, thwarted an attempt to smuggle a quantity of narcotics into the country after seizing a shipment of car parts in which the drugs had been secretly and innovatively concealed.

The Ministry of Interior stated that surveillance and investigative operations led to the arrest of suspects of Sri Lankan nationality in the Mubarak Al-Kabeer and Salwa areas, following their receipt of the shipment.

It noted that when confronted with the seized items, the suspects admitted that they were receiving instructions from a Sri Lankan national residing abroad to receive the shipments, unload the narcotics, and distribute them within the country in exchange for financial compensation.
