Crown Prince, Representative of His Highness the Amir, Meets with the United Nations Secretary-General

Representing His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Amir of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the Crown Prince, met today with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres at the UN headquarters in New York on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

During the meeting, the Crown Prince affirmed Kuwait’s commitment to actively participating in the work of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly. He highlighted the critical nature of the current phase and the need for concerted international efforts to de-escalate tensions at all levels. He stressed the importance of strengthening the role of the United Nations and enhancing its mechanisms to address successive crises, thereby contributing to the establishment of regional and international security and stability and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

For his part, Guterres praised Kuwait’s historic and pioneering role in supporting the international organization. He commended the country’s intensive diplomatic efforts to promote dialogue and settle conflicts through peaceful means, as well as its continuous support for humanitarian initiatives aimed at alleviating the suffering of affected populations and its backing of the UN’s noble activities to maintain international peace and security.

The meeting also featured a review of the latest developments and the evolving situation in the regional and international arenas, particularly the efforts underway to end tensions in the region, and an exchange of views on ways to enhance cooperation in addressing the growing global challenges.
