Kuwait Charity Authority: 5 million liters of water for more than 115,000 families in Gaza

The Islamic World Relief Organization (IWRO) launched the “Water Supply” project to provide safe and potable drinking water to displaced and affected families residing in shelters in the Gaza Strip, as part of its ongoing humanitarian efforts to respond to the basic needs of Palestinian brothers amid the dire humanitarian conditions in the sector.

In a statement issued by the organization, IWRO Managing Engineer Badr Al-Samit said the project will run for two months and involves distributing approximately 5 million liters of drinking water, benefiting more than 115,000 displaced and affected families in shelters, at a total cost exceeding 59,000 Kuwaiti dinars.

Al-Samit explained that the project responds to the acute water crisis in the Gaza Strip, caused by damage to infrastructure and the disruption of safe water sources, which has led to increasing difficulties for displaced families in accessing drinking water and water for daily use, as well as health risks arising from the use of unsafe water.

He noted that the project relies on supplying water from approved desalination plants to shelters, ensuring the provision of safe and potable water for consumption by beneficiary families, helping to mitigate health risks associated with water contamination, and improving the living conditions of displaced persons.
