10 Lions Die in Tanzania

Dar es Salaam - Reuters - The Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority in Tanzania discovered 10 dead lions within the reserve this week, with preliminary findings suggesting they may have been poisoned.

The incident raises concerns about efforts to conserve lions in one of Africa’s most renowned wildlife ecosystems. Poisoning poses a recurring threat to large predators across various parts of East Africa, often linked to the threat these animals pose to livestock herding activities.

In a statement, the authority said the dead lions were found on September 18 in the Ndoto area of the Endolei ward in Arusha Region.
