Othman Al-Shatti to Al-Rai: "A Family Situation"... A Comedy Touching on Family Details
Between comedy and social and family issues, the production team of the new series “Al-Waz’ Aili” (The Family Situation) has begun filming its scenes. The 30-episode dramatic work brings together a constellation of stars from Kuwait and the Arab Gulf, alongside a group of young talents, in an endeavor to present topics that touch on the details of daily life and family relationships with a comedic spirit.
Writer Othman Al-Shatti clarified in a statement to “Al-Rai” that “Al-Waz’ Aili is a 30-episode social comedy series. I was responsible for writing the story, screenplay, and dialogue, while Ali Badr is directing it under the general supervision of artist Mitham Badr. It is produced by Jarnas Artistic Production Company. In terms of content, it addresses and raises important contemporary social and family issues that exist in our daily lives and affect a large segment of society, presenting them through a treatment that combines social commentary with comedy.”
He added, “Throughout the plot, we address a number of social and family topics, including marriage, divorce, the reluctance to marry and its impact on the family, among others, as well as other matters related to family life and relationships among members of society. We strive to present these within a framework that combines social ideas with situational comedy.”
Regarding the story, he said, “It tells the story of the Mansour Al-Muntasir family, consisting of four siblings: Mansour, Nasar, Nasra, and Nasser. They live by different principles in their social lives, within their family, in their careers, and in their social relationships. Through each of these four characters, many of the aforementioned issues will be raised in a light and smooth style for the viewer.”
Speaking about the cast, he revealed, “The series features a wonderful mix of artistic names. The lead roles are played by artists Ahmed Al-Jasmi, Ahmed Al-Aounan, Shaima Ali, Abdullah Al-Khadar, Zainab Bahman, Mishal Shaya, Hilda, Shahad Salman, Dary Al-Rashdan, Abdullah Ghulam, Mitham Badr, Jalnar, and Shahad Al-Kuwaitiya, alongside a group of other young talents.”
He continued, “The gathering of these names in one work creates diversity in terms of characters and dramatic lines, which suits the nature of the series, as it is based on addressing multiple social and family issues, while leaving room for comedy in the treatment of events and situations.”
In conclusion, Al-Shatti expressed his hope that the production stages would proceed as desired, saying, “Filming began a few days ago under the leadership of the young director Ali Badr, in whose vision and thinking I have confidence. May God grant us success and ease the matters, so that we can present a beautiful work to the audience and live up to their high expectations.”
