Faisal bin Farhan: Saudi Arabia continues its role in supporting international peace and security

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan affirmed that the Kingdom’s participation in the high-level segment of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly “is an extension of its approach to engaging with the international community, continuing its role in supporting international peace and security, activating dialogue and mediation, and contributing to addressing shared challenges.”

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), he said the Kingdom views the session, held under the theme “Restoring Trust and Managing Transformation... United Nations Meeting Everyone’s Aspirations,” as an opportunity to reaffirm the principles for which international institutions, foremost among them the United Nations, were established. This includes playing its role in establishing peace and security, consolidating international laws and norms, and enhancing international cooperation in the face of crises.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan added that, in light of current developments in the region, Saudi Arabia “emphasizes the necessity of adhering to the principles of international law, respecting the sovereignty of states, resolving disputes through peaceful means, and ensuring the safety and freedom of navigation in international waterways, thereby safeguarding the security of all states and fulfilling the aspirations of their peoples.”

The Foreign Minister noted that the Kingdom’s participation this year places particular emphasis on sustainable development, including artificial intelligence technologies and ways to utilize them responsibly to develop sectors, enhance their efficiency, and support innovation, thereby delivering tangible benefits to peoples. This comes as the Kingdom designates 2026 as the “Year of Artificial Intelligence.”
