Coalition: Intercepted and destroyed ballistic missile launched by Houthi militia toward Riyadh

The Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen announced on Saturday that the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces successfully intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi militia toward the city of Riyadh.

The Coalition’s Joint Forces quoted the Coalition’s official spokesperson, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, as saying, “The Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces succeeded early today in intercepting and destroying the missile launched by the terrorist Houthi militia toward the capital, Riyadh.”

Al-Maliki clarified that the Houthi militia’s escalation and its continued attempts to target civilians and civilian objects in Riyadh, which is home to more than eight million citizens and residents, confirm its deliberate and repeated, systematic targeting of civilians and civilian objects in behavior he described as “terrorist and hostile.”

Al-Maliki affirmed the Coalition leadership’s inherent right to take whatever measures it deems appropriate, in accordance with international humanitarian law and its customary rules, to deter the Houthi militia’s behavior.
