Mexican Ambassador: Kuwait offers significant opportunities for companies and investors

Eduardo Patricio Peña Haller, Ambassador of the United Mexican States to the country, emphasized the importance of economic and trade relations between Mexico and Kuwait. He expressed his country’s aspiration to expand economic partnerships, encourage mutual investment, and strengthen ties between the business communities of the two nations.
He made these remarks during a celebration marking the 216th anniversary of Mexican Independence, attended by Nawaf Abdul Latif Sulaiman Al-Ahmad, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asian Affairs, and a large number of heads of diplomatic missions.
Haller stated that “Kuwait offers significant opportunities for Mexican companies and investors, particularly in light of its efforts to achieve development and diversify its economy.” He noted that the latent potential in the economic and trade relations between the two countries is “far greater” than the current volume of exchange.
He clarified that, “According to the latest official trade data available from the Mexican side, Mexican exports to Kuwait reached approximately $51 million in 2026 to date. These exports included vehicles dedicated to freight transport, auto parts, air and vacuum pumps, iron and steel pipes and tubes, as well as a variety of agricultural products.”
He affirmed that “these products reflect the ability of Mexican companies to participate effectively in the Kuwaiti market. However, while the current figures are encouraging, they also underscore the vast scope for increasing and diversifying trade volumes.”
The Ambassador pointed out that “Mexico is one of the largest exporters of goods in North America, reflecting its standing in the fields of manufacturing and export.” He added that “the Mexican economy includes industries with international competitiveness, including automobiles and auto parts, aerospace, computers and data processing, beverages, medical devices, electronics, and food products.”
He stressed that “these sectors represent genuine opportunities to build partnerships with the Kuwaiti side, whether through increased exports, attracting investment, or establishing joint ventures. Mexico and Kuwait need to continue working together to boost trade, encourage investment, and forge stronger ties between the business communities of the two countries, thereby harnessing the opportunities available on both sides.”
Haller noted that “Mexico and Kuwait have signed more than 25 agreements covering multiple fields, providing an important foundation for expanding bilateral cooperation.” He explained that “the Mexican Embassy is working to enhance scientific, technological, and cultural cooperation between the two countries, enabling universities and research centers in Mexico and Kuwait to develop joint projects and encourage youth participation in these initiatives.”
He affirmed that “technological advancement has become a fundamental pillar for enhancing competitiveness and achieving development, making scientific and research cooperation between the two countries a crucial area for building upon in the coming phase.”
The Ambassador concluded his speech by affirming the depth of friendship between the two countries, stating: “Long live Mexico! Long live Kuwait! May the friendship between Mexico and Kuwait endure.”
Ambassador Haller also addressed regional developments, expressing his hope that “the State of Kuwait, under the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Amir of the State of Kuwait, and His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, Crown Prince, will contribute to achieving lasting peace in the Arabian Gulf region.”
He emphasized the importance of sustaining cooperation and coordination between the two countries, noting that “Kuwaiti-Mexican relations are founded on friendship and mutual respect, and that his country looks forward to continuing its work with Kuwait in various areas of shared interest.”
Haller explained that the Independence Day celebration serves as an occasion to commemorate Mexico’s independence and to share with Kuwaiti friends the richness of his country’s history, heritage, culture, and long-standing traditions. It also provides an opportunity to reflect on the distinguished trajectory of bilateral relations and the promising prospects that can be jointly opened up in the future.
