Danish Prime Minister: Agreement with the United States on Greenland is "beneficial for NATO and Europe"

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stated on Friday that the agreement reached between her country and the United States, which grants Washington control over Greenland’s security, is “beneficial for NATO and Europe.”

Frederiksen said the agreement “strengthens our shared security in the Arctic and the North Atlantic,” adding that it is expected to be signed on the sidelines of next week’s United Nations General Assembly meetings.

Once signed, the agreement must undergo the necessary parliamentary procedures before it enters into force, according to a statement issued by Frederiksen’s office.
