Al-Rafeedi Brothers Achieve New Success in Jiu-Jitsu Championships

Kuwaiti brothers and champions Obaid and Abdullah Hamoud Al-Rafidi capped off a distinguished career by competing in 30 matches across five tournaments over three international jiu-jitsu championships, winning the gold medal in their respective age categories at the AJP Asia Championship, which recently concluded in Abu Dhabi, the UAE capital, with significant participation from over 2,000 athletes across various age groups and weight classes.

Mohammed Al-Zahiri, Vice President of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, and Yusuf Al-Batran, a member of the federation’s board of directors, awarded the Kuwaiti and Asian champions with their gold medals, amid praise from the technical and administrative staff present at the event for the advanced levels displayed by the two athletes despite their young age.

Obaid and Abdullah Al-Rafidi’s participation in this championship followed their recent achievements over the past three months, during which they also won gold medals at the Grand Prix in Istanbul, the AJP Turkey Championship, the AJP Qatar Championship, and the AJP and Grappling Industries Championships in Kuwait, securing a total of 15 medals across six tournaments in just three months, culminating in their Asian gold medal victory.

The brothers expressed their pride in representing Kuwait with distinction and elevating the country’s name on these international and regional stages, reaffirming their ongoing commitment to continuing their winning streak in upcoming tournaments, as they prepare to compete in the Qatar International Championship next month in Doha.
