Olympic team faces tough match against Uzbekistan tomorrow

Kuwait’s Olympic football team faces a tough challenge against Uzbekistan tomorrow, Friday, in their second match of Group 3. The group also sees Vietnam face the Philippines tomorrow as part of the 20th Asian Games, “Aichi-Nagoya 2026,” hosted by Japan until October 4 next year.

The “Olympic Blues” drew 1-1 with Vietnam in their opening match, while Uzbekistan defeated the Philippines 5-1, underscoring the difficulty of the task ahead for Kuwait’s players, especially given Uzbekistan’s standout performance and thorough preparation for the tournament.

A delegation from the Kuwait Olympic Committee made a point of supporting the national team by attending training sessions and meeting with the administrative and technical staff as well as the players ahead of the match. They expressed strong confidence in Kuwaiti players’ ability to deliver a dignified performance that meets the aspirations of the Kuwaiti fanbase.

In handball, Kuwait kicks off its campaign in the Games with a match against Iran on Saturday, as part of Group 2.

The national team hopes to secure one of the qualification spots for the second round and continue its journey in the tournament, helping to restore Kuwaiti handball to the Asian forefront and reclaim its traditional prominence.

The administrative and technical staff had put together a comprehensive preparation program for the team ahead of the Asian competition. It began with a European training camp in Slovenia and Croatia, followed by a local preparation phase, before moving to the final stage of preparations through a training camp in Tokyo, Japan’s capital. During this camp, the team conducted daily training sessions and played one friendly match aimed at enhancing the players’ technical and physical readiness.
