Ban on Involving Journalists and Celebrities in Organizing and Promoting Hajj Campaigns

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, through the Directorate of Hajj and Umrah Affairs, has instructed licensed Hajj companies to strictly adhere to the regulations governing the participation of media personnel and celebrities in the upcoming Hajj season, in light of directives issued by the relevant Saudi Arabian authorities regarding the regulation of such participation.

In a circular issued by the Directorate of Hajj and Umrah Affairs on Thursday, the Ministry affirmed that the participation of media personnel in the Hajj season is limited to those acting in their professional media capacity, as part of the accredited media team of the Kuwaiti Hajj delegation.

The Ministry emphasized that it is prohibited to include media personnel and celebrities within the administrative or organizational staff accompanying Kuwaiti Hajj groups in the Kingdom.

The Ministry called upon all licensed entities to comply with the provisions of the circular and to take its stipulations into account when preparing the lists of accompanying staff for their groups, while adhering to the applicable laws and regulations. It held violators accountable for the consequences of their non-compliance.
