Al-Rashid: Supporting awareness initiatives and instilling environmental and sustainability culture among students

Dr. Khalid Al-Rashid, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, affirmed the ministry’s commitment to instilling an environmental culture among students and reinforcing positive behaviors related to environmental conservation and sustainability.

In a statement issued following the opening of registration for the fourth annual “Amani Madrasak” (Your School’s Wish) exhibition at The Avenues Mall today, Undersecretary Al-Rashid highlighted the importance of partnering with the Public Authority for Environment to support awareness initiatives aimed at building a generation conscious of its responsibilities toward the environment.

He noted that the participation of 156 schools across all educational stages, from kindergartens to secondary schools, in last year’s exhibition reflects the importance of involving students in practical initiatives that foster a sense of social responsibility and encourage the adoption of recycling practices and the reduction of plastic waste.

For her part, Sanaa Al-Ghamlas, Chief Executive Officer of “Amani,” commended the role of government entities, represented by the Ministries of Interior, Education, Youth and Sports, and Development and Sustainability, as well as the Public Authority for Environment, in supporting environmental initiatives and strengthening institutional partnerships aimed at raising environmental awareness among students. She added that school registration for the competition began on September 13 and will continue until September 26.

Al-Ghamlas emphasized the importance of the exhibition in raising environmental awareness among students and promoting the culture of collecting and recycling plastic. She pointed out that the initiative provides an opportunity to translate environmental concepts into practical actions involving students, as well as teaching and administrative staff across all educational stages.
