Just one euro: Kim Kardashian's compensation for her jewelry theft in Paris

A lawyer said that American reality television star Kim Kardashian received a symbolic compensation of one euro ($1.15) from the robbers who held her at gunpoint in a Paris hotel in 2016 and stole her jewelry, including her $4 million engagement ring.

The lawyer for the hotel receptionist, another plaintiff in the case, stated that Kardashian claimed this symbolic amount from some of the individuals convicted of robbery in a ruling issued in May 2025, as part of a civil lawsuit seeking damages.

Kardashian testified that she believed she would die during the ordeal.

The robbers, often referred to in France as the "grandfather robbers" due to their advanced age, wore ski masks and disguised themselves as police officers.

At the time, the heist was the largest in France in 20 years. Most of the jewelry was never recovered, including the engagement ring given to her by then-husband rapper Kanye West (now known as Ye).

The hotel receptionist sought 500,000 euros in compensation, and his lawyer said he received approximately 110,000 euros.

Kardashian’s lawyers in Paris did not respond to a request for comment.

In court in 2025, Kardashian told Omar Aït Khedache, the mastermind behind the robbery who was 69 years old at the time, that she forgave him, but that this gesture did not erase the psychological trauma left by the incident.
