The official spokesperson for the coalition forces, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, stated in a press statement that the Saudi Royal Air Defense Forces successfully intercepted and destroyed an enemy unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) launched by the Houthi militia at 6:50 PM yesterday, Tuesday, before it entered the prohibited airspace of the Holy City. He noted that the hostile UAV was intercepted south of the city of Mecca.
Al-Maliki added that this hostile and terrorist attempt marks the second attack targeting Mecca, following a ballistic missile launch on July 27, 2017. He described the act as despicable, representing an attempt to target the site of divine revelation, the land of the message, and the spiritual haven of millions of Muslims from various countries, as well as to terrorize the safe guests of the Sacred House of God and harm citizens and residents.
He emphasized that the security of the Two Holy Mosques and the guests of Allah constitutes a red line, stressing that the leadership of the coalition’s joint forces will not hesitate to take necessary and deterrent measures against the Houthi militia and its hostile and terrorist conduct.
