Real Madrid opened the scoring in the 25th minute when a free kick taken by Arda Güler rebounded off the post, struck Elche goalkeeper Matías Dettori, and found the back of the net.
The score remained 2-0 until the 71st minute, when Abel Osorio scored his first goal for Elche with a header from a cross.
In the 83rd minute, a mistake by Marc Cucurella allowed Elche striker Ferran to slot the ball skillfully into the corner, securing a draw for his team.
However, Mourinho’s side snatched all three points in the first minute of stoppage time, as substitute Espi scored the winning goal after a pass from Mbappé.
