Day and night are equal... 27th of this month

Al-Ajilri Scientific Center announced that “Kuwait is set to experience equal lengths of day and night on Sunday, September 27, marking the beginning of autumn’s characteristics.”

The Center added, in a statement to Al-Rai newspaper, that “astronomically, summer ends on September 22 each year, when the sun’s rays are directly overhead at the equator, and day and night become equal in length, a phenomenon known as the autumnal equinox.” It noted that “the equinox begins as the angle of the sun’s rays decreases to 60 degrees in Kuwait’s sky.”

It pointed out that “with the autumnal equinox, night begins to lengthen at the expense of day, whose hours will continue to decrease, while the long night will gradually encroach until the arrival of spring.”

The Center clarified that “astronomically, the Earth’s orbit around the Sun causes the Sun’s rays to appear to move northward and southward relative to the Earth, passing over the terrestrial equator. The rays reach the northern and southern extremes of the planet during specific periods. During the Earth’s annual revolution around the Sun, the Sun’s rays are directly overhead at the equator twice a year: once at the beginning of spring (the vernal equinox) on March 20, and the second time at the beginning of autumn, known as the autumnal equinox, in the latter part of September each year.”
