KIB reinforces awareness of the importance of resources

In line with its commitment to social responsibility and the promotion of sustainable practices, consistent with the social and environmental dimensions of its approach within the framework of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards, Kuwait International Bank (KIB) participated in supporting an initiative to collect used school supplies, organized by Al-Jahra Mall in conjunction with the back-to-school season.

The initiative aimed to encourage community members to donate school supplies that are still in good condition for reuse, so that they could be recycled and distributed to underprivileged families. The initiative saw participation from various age groups, supported by volunteers who contributed to the collection and sorting processes, in a scene that reflected a spirit of cooperation and social responsibility, and contributed to raising awareness of the importance of conserving resources and reducing waste.

On this occasion, Abdulaziz Al-Thawab, Assistant Manager of the Corporate Communications Management Unit at KIB, stated: “At KIB, we believe that community initiatives gain their true value when they provide individuals with the opportunity to participate in ways that have a positive impact. This is why supporting this initiative was important to us, as it transformed school supplies no longer in use by some into resources that others can benefit from, coinciding with the start of the new academic year.”

Al-Thawab added: “The initiative carries an important message about our shared responsibility toward the resources we use and the importance of extending their useful life whenever possible, rather than discarding them. This type of initiative practically combines serving the community with promoting more conscious and sustainable behaviors, which are values we strive to instill through KIB’s Corporate Social Responsibility program and our approach to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG).”

Support for the initiative coincided with KIB’s participation in back-to-school season events through a dedicated booth at Al-Jahra Mall over a period of three weeks, providing the bank with the opportunity to engage directly with families and mall visitors, and to introduce them to its products, services, and diverse banking solutions tailored to their needs and lifestyles.

KIB’s presence at Al-Jahra Mall during the back-to-school season is an extension of its commitment to being close to its customers during occasions that form part of their daily lives, and to meeting them in settings that go beyond the scope of branches and conventional banking channels, thereby enhancing direct communication and enabling a better understanding of their needs and aspirations.

KIB is keen to participate in various community events and to be present at destinations that bring together different segments of society.
