"Al-Shahid" inaugurates "Al-Sour" with the participation of Suad Abdullah and a host of stars
On the occasion of the approaching ceremony marking the opening of the third phase of Al-Shaheed Park, and as part of the final preparations for this major event, Anwar Ahmed Al-Yatama, Chairperson of the Management and Supervision Committee for Al-Shaheed Park – Phase III, stated that this occasion represents a significant milestone in the journey of this national and civilizational landmark. The third phase adds new facilities and spaces that enhance its cultural, social, and recreational role in the lives of citizens and residents of the State of Kuwait.
In a media statement, Al-Yatama clarified that the committee is preparing to host a national ceremony that includes the inauguration of the Al-Sour Theater, one of the major cultural and artistic landmarks in Kuwait. She described it as a cultural beacon and a distinguished architectural edifice that embodies Kuwait’s leadership and its cultural standing within its regional and Arab context.
Al-Yatama added that the inauguration of Al-Sour Theater will feature the presentation of the grand national commemorative theatrical performance titled “Al-Sour.” Drawing inspiration from the epic narrative of the construction of Kuwait’s historic wall, the performance reflects the profound moral and emotional significance of the wall, which is deeply embedded in the consciousness and memory of the Kuwaiti citizen. She noted that the performance embodies the highest meanings of national unity between the leadership and the people throughout history, evoking the values of mutual aid, solidarity, belonging, loyalty, and sacrifice, which have served as fundamental pillars in Kuwait’s journey and have solidified its national identity across generations. The performance also honors our heroes among the brave members of the Armed Forces and frontline personnel, in recognition of their significant national role in protecting the homeland and defending it during the unjust Iranian aggression against our beloved country.
She pointed out that “Al-Sour” presents a contemporary artistic vision that integrates drama, music, singing, and movement, utilizing visual media and audio technologies to construct scenes and shape a theatrical experience that combines various elements of modern theater.
The performance features a national initiative and participation by prominent Kuwaiti artists from different generations, led by the veteran artist Suad Abdullah, and veteran artists Ibrahim Al-Salal, Mohammed Al-Mansour, Jasem Al-Nabhan, Abdulaziz Al-Muslem, and Tariq Al-Ali, alongside artists Khaled Amin, Mona Shaddad, Yaqoub Abdullah, Khaled Al-Muzafar, Mohammed Al-Dosari, Maytham Bader, Hussein Al-Haddad, Saud Boushahri, and Haya Al-Saeed. Additionally, veteran artist Jamal Al-Radhan and artist Mohammed Safar will participate through audio theatrical technologies. The vocal performances will be delivered by artists Fawaz Al-Rajab, Abdulaziz Al-Misbah, Shedad Al-Amiri, and Khalifa Al-Amiri.
Young artist Hussein Al-Duwai, a graduate of the talent training programs for theater at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center, portrays the character of the Kuwaiti youth “Fahad.” This character serves as a central dramatic axis in the construction of the performance, through which events unfold in a narrative linking historical memory with contemporary reality, within a theatrical vision that evokes the past and reinterprets it in the context of the present.
For his part, Khaled Ali Al-Filakawi, Vice Chairperson of the Management and Supervision Committee for Al-Shaheed Park – Phase III, noted that the performance involves students from the Theater Performing Arts Studio at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center, from the “Rehearsal No. 1” program organized by the Center during the summer season of 2026. He explained that this participation includes students from the first track, focusing on acting and theatrical production, as well as students from the second track, focusing on backstage management.
The production involves broad participation from a number of government entities and institutions, foremost among them the Kuwaiti Armed Forces, the Ministry of Interior, the National Guard, and the General Fireforce, alongside the Ministry of Media’s contribution to producing this national event, and the participation of the Ministry of Education and the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, reflecting the integration of efforts and cooperation among various entities in staging this major national spectacle.
The National Bank of Kuwait also participates in producing this grand national celebration, as part of its contribution and support for this important event.
The production also includes a team of movement coaches, and the show features a specialized technical team responsible for designing and implementing visual and audio effects, as well as employing theatrical presentation techniques and digital media.
