500 Matches Place Kimich Among Bayern Munich Legends

Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich made history for the German club by reaching his 500th appearance in all competitions, coming off the bench in a hard-fought 2-1 victory over host Elversberg in the third matchday of the German Bundesliga.

The German national team captain did not start the match, entering from the substitutes’ bench in the 65th minute to celebrate reaching the milestone of 500 games for the club, a historic occasion that places him among the most prominent players to have worn the red jersey.

With his 500th appearance, Kimmich became the 12th player in Bayern’s history to reach this mark, equaling the achievement of club legend Bastian Schweinsteiger, who concluded his career with the team after playing the same number of matches.

Kimmich joined Bayern Munich in the summer of 2016, and since then has become one of the team’s most important players, winning 10 Bundesliga titles and four DFB-Pokal trophies with the club, as well as the UEFA Champions League in 2020.
