As school classrooms and university lecture halls opened their doors to welcome students yesterday, Sunday, the scene on the roads reflected the success of the security and traffic plan accompanying the start of the new academic year. Smooth traffic flow was the prevailing characteristic on all roads, with only a few exceptions in certain areas due to specific local conditions.

At the schools, first-grade students kicked off the return to classrooms, followed today, Monday, by students in other grades and stages. The academic year’s commencement will be completed when kindergarten children return next Wednesday.

Educationally, Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs at the Ministry of Education, Hamad Al-Hamad, told “Al-Rai” that the ministry did its utmost to meet schools’ needs for furniture, maintenance, and textbooks. He commended the efforts of the General Administration of Educational Facilities and Projects, which undertook massive work during the summer to prepare schools to receive students.

Al-Hamad clarified that textbooks had reached all schools at a rate exceeding 95 percent. School furniture was provided for two kindergartens in the Al-Mutlaa area and one secondary school in West Abdullah Al-Mubarak, in addition to equipping 12 schools in various educational districts for the pathways system.

Meanwhile, patrols from the Traffic and Rescue sectors, supported by General Security sector patrols, were deployed on the roads in implementation of the security and traffic plan, which was designed to facilitate traffic flow and prevent congestion and bottlenecks. This was clearly evident on the roads, marking a successful start that will be completed with the full resumption of all educational stages.
